Here we are again, yogis. Oof.

Governor Brown announced Friday, November 13 (lucky, right?) that Multnomah County will begin a temporary "freeze" for a minimum of 4 weeks, which involves shutting down many small businesses including ours. (But malls and churches can be open?? Hm. That's another blog post though.)

This is a big bummer for everyone- AND we will be here for you. Check out all the details below!

When are you closing and when will you re-open?
As of November 18 we closed for in-person classes for a minimum of 4 weeks, per the Governor's mandate. Join us for Virtual Bikram Yoga classes on Zoom or in our extensive on-demand library! As for reopening, we just don't know right now. We will keep you posted as we get closer to the end of the initial 4 weeks.

Can I practice at home even without the heat?
YES. The Bikram Yoga sequence of postures and breathing exercises is powerful, even without the heat. (Though adding some heat sure helps.) We created this whole "DIY Hot Room" guide to help you make the most of the space you've got at (your) home. It ain’t the same as being in a class at Home, of course- but it is waaay better than nothing! Be gentler and very mindful with your practice, since you won’t have the full-on heat to keep you stretchy.

Maybe I should just wait until the studio is open again?
NOPE. Firstly, that could be months. You deserve to feel yoga-good now, not "later." Continuing your yoga during this time will help keep your stress levels low, your nervous system calm, your immune system kicking butt- and also maintain the strength, flexibility and balance you have worked so hard to build here at the studio! Check out this video for tips on creating a safe hot(ish) space for home practice.

What about my membership?
We understand if you need to make a change to your membership at this time. To make a change, email homehotyoga@gmail.com. Thank you for your patience as it may take us longer than usual to respond. If you are a current member, you should have received additional instructions for accessing online classes via email. Please be sure to add us to your email contacts so you stay up to date!

How do I access online classes?
If you have a HHY Membership or a subscription to HHY To Go, you've already got what you need to access all our online offerings HERE. If you have another pass or don't know how to access HHYTG, email us and we'll hook you up!

This sucks. What can I do to help?
  • BIKRAM YOGA. Seriously! Maintain your yoga practice to keep your immunity roaring and cortisol low- oh, and keep your patience and sanity so you can be kind to your family and neighbors and also to yourself.
  • Follow us @homehotyoga on the IG, Facebook and YouTube for studio updates.
  • Support local biz as much as possible. Many small businesses do not have the resources to survive this closure without your help. So if you love a biz and want them to exist, help them stay open by buying stuff from them! In St. Johns some businesses who especially align with our core values of hospitality and integrity are: Flourish Plant-Based Kitchen, Sissy's Beverage Emporium, Jamaica House and Hound & Hare Vintage!
  • Many of our members have asked that we keep their memberships active during this time as a way to continue supporting the studio. We are deeply grateful for this!
  • As a local family owned small business, we rely on revenue from HHY to continue providing you with the highest quality of yoga instruction whether in-studio or online (plus pay our bills and feed our kids.) If you want to offer additional support you can donate any amount to our GoFundMe campaign. We understand this time is hard on everyone, and your donations mean SO much to us.
  • Refuse to live in fear. Everything will be OK- because even when it's not really OK: you can still be OK. That is something we have learned from Bikram Yoga, and we hope that you have too.
