About Bikram Yoga
Our lives can lead to bodily stress and a feeling of disconnection. A Bikram Yoga practice counters the negative external influences we deal with daily. You leave your mat feeling light, grounded and with a deep level of satiation.
This set-sequence class of scientifically designed yoga poses performed in a heated environment is excellent for beginners and experienced yogis alike.
You can easily moderate the intensity level to suit your needs, and the precision of instruction always offers new experiences and the opportunity for meditation.
Every Bikram Yoga class consists of a series of 26 hatha yoga postures and 2 breathing exercises developed and made popular in the west by Bikram Choudhury. The series systematically works through every part of your body, giving all the internal organs, tissues, joints and muscles everything they need to maintain optimum health and function.
Students are guided by verbal instruction from a certified Bikram Yoga instructor. In an in-person studio Bikram Yoga is practiced in a room heated to approximately 105 degrees Farenheit with 40% humidity. You can also add heat and humidity to your home practice to increase health benefits! Check out our D.I.Y. Hot Room pages here for tips.
Heat helps to keep muscles warm, allowing for safe stretching, increased flexibility, improved blood circulation and a cleansing effect for the skin. It feels goooood.
