FAQ about our temporary closure below.

Why aren't you open?
We have given a LOT of thought to reopening. Under the current circumstances and regulations, we don't feel it's viable or safe to reopen for in-person classes at this time. In making this call, our #1 concern is safety, and our #2 concern is that we get to be here for you on the other side of this. We understand that other businesses are making different choices, and we respect that ours is not the only valid approach. We know that all small business owners are simply trying to do our best in an incredibly difficult situation.
When did you close and when will you re-open?
We are temporarily closed for in-person classes as of Tuesday, March 17. We chose to close to do our part in flattening the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic. Just 1 week later Oregon Governor Kate Brown issued a mandate that closed all yoga studios in the state until further notice. We immediately pivoted our business online and began teaching real-time Virtual Bikram Yoga classes via Zoom, as well as providing on-demand recordings to our members. Gyms and yoga studios are included in Phase 1 of the state's phased reopening plan, and Multnomah County entered Phase 1 on June 19. Our reopening date is October 17!! Check out the Reopening Plan here.
What about my year of Mat & Towel service?
We probably will be able to offer rentals again someday, but we're not sure when. If you prepaid for 1 year of service, we put a pro-rated refund on your account as credit. You can use it toward an online yoga subscription, a future yoga pass, retail or gift certificates.
Can I practice at home even without the heat?
YES. The Bikram Yoga sequence of postures and breathing exercises is powerful, even without the heat. You can even set up a space heater, full length mirror and a room humidifier (or practice in the bathroom and turn on the shower for a bit!) Kay used to yoga this way for a whole year when she lived in Italy with no studio nearby. It ain’t the same as being in a class at Home, of course- but it is waaay better than nothing! Be more gentle and very mindful, since you won’t have the full-on heat to keep you supple. Continuing your practice during this time will help keep your stress levels low, your nervous system calm, your immune system healthy and also maintain the strength, flexibility and balance you have worked so hard to build here at the studio. Check out this video for tips.
Where can I get good updates about COVID-19?
As much as we love talking to you, we can’t/shouldn’t be your source for info on COVID-19. We suggest you follow the CDC and/or the WHO for the latest (and please don’t believe everything your third cousin Sparky is posting on Facebook!)

What can I do to help?
- Wash your hands often and well
- Breathe through your nose to keep your nervous system calm
- Maintain your yoga practice to keep your immunity roaring and cortisol low
- Stay home if you’re feeling sick
- Follow us @homehotyoga on the IG, Facebook and YouTube for studio updates.
- Support local small businesses as much as possible! We get it. Amazon is so convenient, especially if you are laying low. But many small businesses do not have the resources to survive a closure. So if you love a biz and want them to be there on the other side of this, help them stay open by purchasing. If they are closed you can often buy gift certificates!
- Many of our members have asked that we keep their memberships active during this time as a way to continue supporting the studio. We are deeply grateful for this!
- As a local family owned small business, we rely on revenue from HHY to continue providing you with the highest quality of yoga instruction in the cleanest, coziest environment (plus pay our bills and feed our kids.) If you want to offer additional support you can donate any amount to our GoFundMe campaign. We understand this time is hard on everyone, and your donations mean SO much to us.
- Hug your loved ones and live each day in a way you are proud of.
